Creating a Job Goal and Making a PlanOnce you are eligible to receive services from DSB, the next step is to decide your employment goal and to make a plan that describes the steps you will take to achieve that goal. Choosing a Job GoalTo identify what you like and what you are good at, you will look at a variety of information, such as interest and aptitude surveys, school activities, hobbies and work experiences. You will then use the information to decide on a job goal with support from your DSB counselor. Developing a Plan to Reach Your Job Goal
With help from your DSB counselor, you will decide what steps to take to reach your job goal. Together, you will develop and sign a written plan, called an Individual Plan for Employment (IPE). The IPE outlines the services you need to reduce or eliminate the barriers to employment that result from your disability. It also outlines the services you need to go to work. Your DSB counselor provides counseling and guidance as you work toward your job goal. Other DSB services include, but are not limited to:
Qualified individuals or organizations in the community that act as partners in the rehabilitation process may also provide services.
