Department of Services for the Blind

Role of the Participant in the Vocational Rehabilitation Process*

The participant will:

  • Work with the Service Delivery Team to plan employment services and review service delivery options.
  • Take active responsibility to look for work. Devote significant time each week to job search efforts unless special circumstances such as illness, or family problems intervene. There is a direct relationship between the amount of time spent looking for work each week, and the amount of time it takes to find a job.
  • Utilize the materials, resources and services provided by the Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Team to assist in the job search process.
  • Provide accurate information and feedback to the VR Team about issues related to jobs and job search.
  • Follow up job leads and announcements promptly.
  • Request further assistance or training if needed to complete a particular component of the job search.
  • At employment, cooperate with the Assistive Technology program and other service providers to schedule evaluations.
