Eligibility FAQ

1. Can I work with you if I’m a DVR client?

Yes. If you have a visual impairment and or a DVR client, you can contact us to see if you qualify for services through Dept. of Services for the Blind. We can work in partnership with you and your DVR counselor to ensure that you have the best informed choice in all options of combined services.

2. Can I get financial assistance for college?

Continuing education is an option that is explored with DSB participants and their counselors. Should additional education support agreed upon career goals DSB will work with you to determine your best financial options.

3. Can I seek services while I'm still working?

YES. We encourage you to contact us so we can assist you in keeping your job. Our experience indicates it is much easier to help you keep your job than assist you in finding a new one.

4. If I still have some vision, would I qualify for services?

If you are experiencing vision issues that are creating an impediment or challenge to employment or other life activities, we encourage you to contact us for additional information about services. You may still qualify for valued services.

5. Will my information be kept confidential?

YES. All information is held in strict confidence, any shared information will be done so with your consent. We honor and respect the confidentiality and privacy of our participants.

6. What if I'm not a legal citizen?

If you are a legal resident of the State of Washington and meet the eligibility criteria, you would probably be found eligible for services.

7. What if I've never worked before?

Our employment services are designed to create career options and assist you in implementing a lifetime career path.
