Vocational Rehabilitation Program/Employment ServicesPeople who are blind and visually impaired go to work successfully in all kinds of jobs, earn good wages and benefits, live independently, support their families, pay taxes and contribute to their communities. Our Vocational Rehabilitation/Employment Services program at DSB can provide the support and encouragement it takes for someone who has lost vision to overcome barriers, and gain the self-confidence and skills needed to be successfully employed. We can help whether you have just recently lost your vision and want to stay in your current job, or you have never worked before. What is Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment Services?Vocational Rehabilitation is the process of overcoming the barriers and challenges of a disability and developing the skills and resources to live independently and be successfully employed.

What types of jobs can Blind people do?People often come to DSB and ask, "What kind of jobs can blind people do?" We know that someone who is blind, with the right training and accommodations, can do any job that fits their particular interests, skills and abilities. We help our participants explore a wide range of possibilities. We give our participants lots of information about careers and the job market, and help them see how their own interests and skills may fit. We help identify what else a person may need to do to get ready for the career of their choice.
