Students will learn to navigate different modes of transportation on an all-day exploration of south King County, while parents participate in training activities before rejoining the group at lunchtime.
Trains - Link Light Rail
From the DSB offices, the student will travel to local Link station, where they will be oriented to the platform, its features, and sounds, before actually boarding a train. After boarding, students can explore the interior of the train with one-on-one assistance from an O&M instructor.
Planes - SeaTac International Airport
After the train trip, students will disembark and learn skills to orient and travel into the airport. Once inside, students will explore escalators, ticketing counters, baggage claim, security, etc.
Buses - King County Metro
After their airport tour, students will take a Metro Bus to the Southcenter Mall in Tukwila, where they will meet up with their parents for lunch at the mall food court. After lunch, the group will complete their mass transit journey and return to DSB offices in Columbia City.
